Yesterday, in a post about Lissie’s Sweets Creations, we learned that home baker Melissa Parr donates some of her sweet concoctions to Icing Smiles, a nonprofit organization with a team of volunteers that makes custom cakes and other treats for families that have been impacted by the critical illness of a child.
Also yesterday, we got word that local baker Jennifer Kenyon of Crumb and Get ‘Em Cupcakes donated 480 cupcakes to charitable organizations in Fresno:
Jennifer, whose cupcake menu includes flavors such as margarita, cappuccino stout, and “the churro” (hello), writes:
I spent all day yesterday baking and frosting over 40 dozen cupcakes for an event in Downtown Fresno, only to find out it would be postponed.
I went to bed devastated wondering “What in [the] world am I going to do with 480 cupcakes?” I woke up and thinking it’s “Valentine’s Day, there’s no way that Jesus would make me work that hard and not have a purpose for these treats” I called @marjareemasoncenter @poverellohouse and @evangelhome and asked if they could bless the ladies there… And they did!
So between Jennifer’s amazing good deed and Melissa’s, we’re left wondering: Is there just something sweeter about Fresno bakers?
Seems like, if you’re in need of some sweet treats, you can’t go wrong with either Lissie’s or Crumb and Get ‘Em, especially knowing that your purchase will likely find its way paid forward.
