Enjoy a Nice Little Saturday with Lunch at Chandler Executive Airport

It’s usually on a nice, sunny Saturday early in the spring, before the temps climb to ungodly levels, that one gets the urge to do something. Mostly it’s just an excuse to get out of the house, get in the car, and go somewhere with the windows down.

On the next nice little Saturday, I suggest you head out to Chandler Executive Airport in Fresno, where you can eat some lunch and watch some planes take off.

Chandler Airport is located about two miles west of downtown Fresno, off Kearney Boulevard. On a nice day, you get an amazing view of the downtown Fresno skyline.

The planes that take off from Chandler are small, but they’re definitely fun to watch – especially while sitting at a table in the Flight Line Café enjoying a BLT or a plate of eggs, or even some fried rice. The food is simple and good, which is all you really need in a midday Saturday meal.

I always get the BLT. Nothing beats a simple, well-made BLT.

The terminal at Chandler Executive Airport is worth checking out, as well. It definitely evokes the time of when Chandler was built—the 1940s—in its décor. As a Disneyland fan, I’m big on theming, and Chandler’s definitely got a great art deco theme going, both inside and out.

Speaking of Disney, you may remember that Chandler Airport is where Harrison Ford, Shia LeBeouf, and Steven Spielberg were spotted filming for Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull in 2007. (Fun fact: I ditched work to watch them film and I regret nothing.)

The stuff filmed at Chandler didn’t make it into the film, which is probably good news for fans of the airport. Sorry, Indy. Do better on the next one.

There’s a gate to keep onlookers off the runway, but you can still get a pretty close-up look.

The calendar says 2017, but the vibe at Chandler Airport feels like the 1940s.

Spending an hour or two at Chandler Executive Airport is definitely a nice way to kill some time on a Saturday afternoon, and it’s one of those things that makes you want to spend more time exploring your city.

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Fresno? I say FresYES

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
