What’s Hot & Happening July 28 – 30

By FresYes Writing Team

Welcome to the weekend! It looks like it’s certainly going to be hot – just into the triple digits – but not that unbearably hot like last weekend. No, no thank you!

Just a few fun facts:

Sunrise is currently right around 6 AM – 6:01, 6:02 and 6:03 AM on Sunday.Sunset is currently just after 8 PM – 8:09, 8:08 and 8:07 PM on Sunday.Remember that our days are getting shorter, and it’s just about a minute difference in the morning and another minute in the night. Cool pattern.Looking at the moon it’s a very different cycle. 29.5 Days.Moonrise on Friday is 4:45 PM. Saturday at 5:55 PM, and Sunday at 6:59 PMMoonset on Friday is at 1:25 AM, 2:12 AM and 3:11It’s harder to see the pattern here, right?

Here’s more info on the Moon than you probably care to know: https://www.timeanddate.com/moon/usa/fresno

BTW: The moon right now is called a Waxing Gibbous. Waxing means that it is getting bigger, while gibbous refers to the oval-to-round shape.

That’s enough about the Sun and Moon. Let’s get you out of the house this weekend. We’ve got some great things to do starting with an incredible musical.

LES MIS

When something as big as Les Mis comes around, it has to be the Featured Event.

“Les Misérables” is a renowned novel written by Victor Hugo, first published in 1862. It is considered one of the greatest works of literature in the 19th century. We won’t spoil the whole story for you, but we’ll give you a basic recap.

The central character of the story is Jean Valjean, a former convict who served 19 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his sister’s starving child. Upon release, he struggles to reintegrate into society and finds himself facing discrimination and hostility due to his criminal past. However, an act of kindness from a bishop transforms him, and he decides to live an honest and virtuous life.

The novel’s enduring popularity has led to numerous adaptations, including stage musicals, films, and television series, which have introduced the story to audiences around the world.

As for the musical… Did you know that 130 MILLION people, in 53 different countries and in 22 languages have seen it? It’s billed as the Worlds Most Popular Musical. We can’t easily go to London’s Sondheim Theatre but lucky enough for us, it’s playing right here at The Saroyan!

Friday Night:

Let’s do something a little different. Let’s go to the Friday Night Farmers Market in Old Town Clovis. It has a slightly different vibe than the early morning version. The Market features local Certified Producers and supports the NOSH Program (Natural, Organic, Sustainable, and Healthy). This “eat one – give one” program helps provide nourishing fresh fruits and vegetables to families in need, distributed throughout five Clovis pantries.

Yes, there will be music and food. The local band, PB&J is playing. Now if someone was really cool they would set up a gourmet PB&J food stand right next door. Seriously, picture some wonderful locally sourced, locally made peanut or pistachio butter, some incredible local fruit jam, and great artisanal locally baked bread, right? The line starts right behind us!

Saturday Day:

It’s funny because we just published a Back To School Shopping Poll this week and you know how we like our puns here. When we saw this “Back to Cool” event, it was just too good of a pun to not include in this week’s H&H.

Check out the “Back to Cool” Vintage Faire at Manchester Mall. It’s this Saturday from 11 – 5.

Come inside Manchester Center aka Manchester Mall to enjoy over 80 vendors of vintage clothing, hats, sneakers, bags, plush, and toys. There are also other arts and crafts vendors for items like jewelry, plants, art, baked goods, and more. Outside Manchester Center there will be many delicious choices of food trucks to eat at and this event will feature a car show by Travel Team so don’t miss out on fun for everyone.

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Fresno? I say FresYES

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
