It’s going to be a great weekend even though with the temp hitting 70 on Saturday – is it really Winter? If it wasn’t for all the decorations, and trees and lights you might not know it. We need the temp to drop just so we can proudly wear that Ugly Sweater we worked so hard on. Maybe Winter will come next week. |

Did you happen to look up in the sky last night? The Geminid Meteor Shower was at it’s peak. With the moon being just a teeny little sliver (technically a waxing crescent) it was great viewing. Don’t worry if you did, there’s another shower happening this Saturday! Not the same, this is the Comae Berenicid Meteor Shower and your best viewing should be around 11 PM. If you are into those kind of things, on Sunday the Moon and Saturn will be close together. It’s called a appulse. The pair will be too widely separated to fit within the field of view of a telescope, but will be visible to the naked eye or through a pair of binoculars. |

Elf! It was released 20 years ago and it’s still one of the Best Christmas Movies (besides Die Hard) ever! Buddy the Elf, all sugar-high and six feet tall in his green tights, barreling through New York City like a runaway candy cane! It’s such a great movie and full of so many small details you’ll not catch the first 30 times you see it. |
