One of my most favorite things about being a Fresnan is that there is always something to do! However, I’ve seen people comment on various forums online saying, “There’s nothing to do in Fresno.” I truly think this is nothing more than an awareness issue – and one I can definitely help with.
In order to appreciate how much there truly is to do in Fresno, you simply need to know the right places to look for updated information. While this won’t be an exhaustive list, it can certainly be a start in the right direction to be better in the know about the ‘No.
- FresYes.com: (You knew I had to start with this one, right?) I, along with other members of the FresYes crew, work hard to provide you with information not just on great local businesses, events, weekend happenings, and restaurant openings, but also on people you should know and the cool projects they’re a part of. Check our blog often, subscribe to our email newsletter for weekend activity updates, and follow us on social media.
- Gazebo Gardens: Gazebo Gardens hosts food truck gatherings featuring numerous local businesses offering a wide variety of cuisines four nights a week, every week! Plus, they also host live music. Check their website for the food truck and band lineup each week, then follow the bands and food trucks you end up loving on social media to learn about more events they’ll be at.
- Tioga-Sequoia Beer Garden: These guys went all in on making Downtown fun from the jump as revitalization began. They host events almost every night of the week, and many are all-ages, allowing you to bring the whole family (like Lotería nights). They host trivia nights, themed pop-up events, release parties for limited edition brews, speed dating, and more. Definitely follow them on social media for all the fun!
- River Park Shopping Center: From food truck nights to stargazing with local astronomers, cumbia dance nights, and farmer’s markets, the River Park Shopping Center offers lots for Fresno residents to enjoy, many nights a week. Entry is always free, and many of the events themselves are free, too! Follow them online to see what’s happening next.
- Grizzly Stadium: Chukchansi Park is home to more than just baseball – they have a splash pad, themed nights during games, fireworks, back-to-school giveaway events, concerts, the Taco Truck Throwdown, and much more. Grizzlies games are a remarkably fun and affordable way to spend an evening out with the whole family, but the stadium crew works hard year-round to offer fun to Valley residents. Follow them online to be in the loop.
- The Fresno County Public Library: Our local librarians do an amazing job curating not just a fantastic selection of books, digital and physical resources, but also packing monthly calendars with fun things to do, experience, craft, and learn for free at branches across the Valley! Bring your kids to meet live reptiles, your teens to craft, enjoy storytimes with dogs, and much more. Check out their schedule of events online.
- Maarte Fresno: A hub for culture, yoga, interactive classes, community journaling, live performances, homemade and artisan goods, and so much more, Maarte, located in Downtown Fresno, has something great happening multiple times a week, every week, and there is constantly something new to be involved in. Follow them on Instagram to stay informed.
- Sun Stereo Warehouse: This business hub located across from the Tioga-Sequoia Beer Garden is home to a growing number of local businesses, including a DIY candle workshop, a sober/alcohol-free bar, a new bar and grill, an aerial arts studio, a teahouse, and more. Events are taking place in this renovated historic building every week. Follow them for updates on Instagram.
- Fresno Street Eats: The ultimate curator of local food truck gatherings throughout the Fresno/Clovis area, with foodie meetups taking place daily. Often their events coincide with fun entertainment and other community happenings, so definitely keep an eye on them to find great new food and entertainment options nearest your part of town.
