If you’re looking for a place in Clovis that nails it on cleanliness, service, and absolutely unforgettable food, let me introduce you to The Local. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants (comes with the job and the appetite), but this one has officially earned a five-star spot in my book and maybe even a spot in my “last meal on earth” conversation… more on that in a minute.
First Impressions: Clean, Welcoming, Plenty of Parking
Before you even step inside, you notice how easy everything is. Plenty of parking, which in Clovis is a gift (park in back) and when you walk in, the space is clean, organized, and inviting. No clutter, no chaos, just a place that feels like it truly cares about its guests.
Service With a Smile (and Speed)
The staff at The Local absolutely crushed it. Friendly, genuine smiles, quick service, refills without asking… the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like you’ve been coming here for years. Our server was attentive without hovering, which is an art form in itself.
Now Let’s Talk Food, Because WOW
We ordered a little bit of everything, and there wasn’t a single miss. Here’s the rundown:
Tempura Green Beans
We started with these, and I need you to understand something: these were the best tempura green beans I’ve ever had. Light, crispy, flavorful, the kind of appetizer you keep eating long after you’ve told yourself “okay, one more.”
California Chicken Sandwich (AJ Approved)
My son ordered this one, and he’s not easy to impress. He finished it with a grin, which tells you everything you need to know.
Turkey Club (Warning: Massive Portion)
My daughter ordered the Turkey Club and the portion was no joke. It could easily be two full meals — she ate half, then immediately asked for a to-go box. (Always a good sign.)
Mac & Cheese with Chicken (Caro’s New Favorite)
Our friend Caro got the mac & cheese with chicken and declared it the best she’s ever had. And when someone says that after the first bite, you pay attention.
The Burger to End All Burgers (My Pick)
Now let’s get to what I ordered: the bacon cheeseburger topped with a sunny-side egg.
I’m not exaggerating when I say this might be the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. And listen… I love a good burger. If I had to choose my last meal on earth, it would be a bacon cheeseburger and honestly, I think The Local just claimed that title.
