Lights Off, Fresno On 🌍✨

For one hour next week on March 28, the lights go out but the meaning behind it shines even brighter. This is your reminder to slow things down, step outside, and experience Fresno in a quieter, more intentional way. And the best part? It doesn’t stop there… 👀

Fun Facts (That Make You Think a Little)

🏠 If everyone in the U.S. turned off their lights for just one hour, it could save enough energy to power millions of homes for a day
🌟 The human eye adjusts to darkness in about 20–30 minutes, meaning you’ll actually start seeing more stars the longer you stay unplugged
😴 Studies show spending time in low-light, quiet environments can actually help reduce stress and improve sleep

On March 28, 2026 at 8:30 PM, Earth Hour invites people across the globe to switch off their lights and “spend an hour for the Earth.” 🌱

It’s simple. Turn off the lights. Put the phone down. Step outside.

And honestly… Fresno might be one of the best places to do this. Warm night air, quieter streets, and just enough stillness to actually reset for a bit.

This isn’t about sitting in the dark doing nothing -it’s about changing the vibe.

Instead, do these:
🕯️Candlelight dinner at home (suddenly feels like a whole experience)
🚶‍♂️Night walks around your neighborhood or Woodward Park
🔌Unplugging from everything

But here’s the thing… this is just the start.

One hour turns into awareness.
Awareness turns into better habits.
And better habits? That’s where real impact begins. 🌱

🌱 And Then… Earth Day Is Coming to Fresno

If Earth Hour is the pause, Earth Day is the party with purpose.

Happening April 18, 2026 at Fresno City College, this is one of those events that Fresno really shows up for -community, energy, and a whole lot of good vibes.

Expect:
🎶 Live music + local performances
🍔 Food trucks and local eats
🛍️ Vendors + small businesses
🌿 Eco-friendly ideas, products, and inspiration
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-friendly activities for all ages

It’s the kind of event where you can hang out, learn something new, grab good food, and actually feel connected to the community.

Moments like Earth Hour and events like Earth Day aren’t about being the “greenest” city… they’re about showing up, even in small ways.

One hour without lights.
One day celebrating the planet.

That’s how things start.

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Fresno? I say FresYES

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
