What’s Hot & Happening October 20 – 22

By FresYes Writing Team

Yay! It’s the Weekend! Yes, the Big Fresno Fair is gone for yet another year. We hope you got to go and did you happen to get the rolled tacos? And yes, the Solar Eclipse happened and we hope you got to see it (without looking directly at the sun). But there’s plenty of great stuff to do this weekend!

BTW: The next cool celestial event will be the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, not nearly as cool as a solar eclipse, but still pretty cool. The bad news is that you have to wait until Monday, Mar 25, 2024 at 12:12 AM! – We won’t wake you up, but we’ll remind you!

FRIDAY, October 20th:

While it’s not Friday the 13th today, it’s still spooky season and we’re seriously torn. Do we go for the original screening of Nightmare of Elm Street? Do you remember the first time you saw it? Recapture all those goosebumps again, or laugh at how tame it is now by catching it on the big screen at The Crest. Don’t fall asleep, get your best Freddy Krueger costume together and let’s do this!

Since you have your costume dialed in for this year, maybe you feel more like a party? There’s Fresnoween. It’s billed as Fresno’s largest annual Halloween Costume Party.

I don’t have anything big planned. Just a giant blowout party with all the Barbies, and planned choreography, and a bespoke song – you should stop by!

-Barbie

Question: How many “Barbies” do you think will show? Answer: All the Barbies will be there, obviously.

You know it’s the #1 costume for this year? Gates open at 8PM and the last band is set to stop at 2 AM!

Come on, Barbie, let’s go party!

SATURDAY, October 21st:

Three words. Taco Truck Throwdown, right? Don’t go back the the Real World, don’t change clothes – just switch over to “Hungover Barbie” and head back down to Chukchansi Park for the world-famous food festival, now in its 12th iteration. They’ll once again feature the best taco trucks in the Central Valley, live performances, and much more. Music from Cypress Hill, Tha Dogg Pound, and That Mexican OT – you would have to be Insane in the Membrane to miss it! (see what we did there?)

SUNDAY, October 22nd:

We’re not quite ready to get back to the Real World, at least yet. How about you? Maybe a little wine?

The Whole Vine Festival is a weekend-long event that showcases the best of the San Joaquin Valley’s grape industries. The Whole Vine Festival runs today from 10 AM to 4 PM. Here’s the thing, Sunday is a little quieter so it’s perfect fun for the whole family, with kid-friendly activities, culinary demonstrations, and local music performances, there’s something for everyone.

Friday:

Saturday:

Sunday:

You must come see this well maintained Custom Home built by Penner Braun! This one owner home is 2215 Sq. Ft. and sits on a 1/4 acre lot, with mature landscaping. The front yard is beautifully landscaped with large rocks and synthetic grass. At entry you are greeted with a formal dining room that is light and bright. Designer aggregate flooring leads you to the great room with vaulted ceiling, gas fireplace insert with mantle, built in bookshelves and a dry bar. The spacious kitchen features Corian countertops, stone backsplash, breakfast bar and breakfast nook. The great room and kitchen overlook an absolutely beautiful backyard with covered patio, a running stream, 2 rock waterfalls and mature redwood trees. Inside you have 3 bedrooms located on one side of the house and a 4th bedroom on the other side. The 4th bedroom is currently being used as an office with built in desks. The master bedroom is large with dual walk in closets and access to the backyard. The master bathroom has a walk-in shower and separate bathtub along with dual sinks. Down the hall is the laundry room with lots of cabinets, counter space and a deep sink. The 3 car garage and oversized driveway will allow for lots of parking. Call for a private showing today.

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Fresno? I say FresYES

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
