Prepare yourself: it’s National Frozen Yogurt Day!
Frozen yogurt as we know it developed in 1970 as soft serve. Originally it was called “Frogurt,” which is a terrible name. Thankfully now we’re much cooler and call it “FroYo.” These days, you can also add any kind of topping imaginable and try exciting flavors like “tart” and chocolate malt ball.
So, in honor of this very important holiday, I’m compiling an official and scientific list of the best places to get frozen yogurt in the Fresno area.
1. Chosen Yogurt
Chosen Yogurt, at 8967 N. Chestnut Ave. in Fresno, gets first prize in the fight for the best yogurt joint. Why? Because they’re family based and community oriented, and they were 2017’s Small Business of the Year.
Their yogurt is delicious, but they also have Doc Burnstein’s ice cream so you can pretend you’re at the coast.
To celebrate National Frozen Yogurt Day, Chosen Yogurt is offering 20% off all frozen yogurt and toppings. (Read more about Chosen Yogurt here.)
2. JoJo’s Yogurt
If you’re looking for yogurt with a twist, check out JoJo’s Yogurt at 1798 Ashlan Ave. #100 in Clovis. They offer shaved snow, which is like shaved ice but softer and less… icy.
JoJo’s is locally owned and carries tons of fun toppings, such as poppers, which are gel beads full of sweet juice—kind of like boba but with a juicy center. They have a friendly staff, and one of their promotions is School Spirit Fridays. If you show up on Fridays wearing your school gear, you get 20% off your cup of yogurt.
3. Peachy King
Peachy King is located at 5247 E. Kings Canyon Rd in Fresno. At this Sunnyside yogurt shop, they provide board games on the tables, which means you can get away from your smart phones and eat yogurt while playing Scrabble! This place also has tons of flavors, is community oriented, and rocks the frozen yogurt game.
4. Mickey’s Yogurt
Guess what? Mickey’s Yogurt at 2195 Shaw Ave., Ste A in Clovis is now serving edible cookie dough! I realize the dough doesn’t reflect the yogurt, but this is my list and I do what I want. Mickey’s also serves Italian ice flavors, and has Dole Whip in steady rotation for all you Disneyland fans.
If you want to see for yourself why it’s such a popular yogurt spot, you can head over there today and get 25% off your order in honor of National Frozen Yogurt Day.
5. Yogurtland and Menchie’s
Is it cheating to put two yogurt spots in one place? I don’t care. Yogurtland and Menchie’s are here for your frozen yogurt needs, and that’s a good thing.
Menchie’s is popular with local moms because there’s a giant chalk wall to keep the kiddies busy. If you head to Menchie’s today (Feb. 6) for National Frozen Yogurt day, you can enjoy the classic BOGO, buy one get one free. Bonus: there are multiple locations around Fresno to choose from.
Also today, Yogurtland is offering a free 5 oz. yogurt in Kit-Kat or chocolate malt flavor from 4-7 p.m. at both their River Park and Campus Pointe locations. What’s better than free yogurt? I’ll wait.
Have you made your frozen yogurt plans yet? Do you agree with my rating system? I’m open to suggestions, just drop them in the comments. (Whatever you do, just don’t call it Frogurt.)
