Moving? 3 Local businesses that can help

After 5 years in my apartment, 2 days ago I joined the group of people who have experienced the stress of moving. I had about a month to get ready for the big day, but no matter how long you have to get ready, you’re never really ready.

I liked my apartment complex, but it was time to say goodbye. My kiddos are definitely going to miss the pool this summer, and I’m going to miss the baby ducks that hatched each spring. One thing I will not miss? The stairs! When I moved into the complex 5 years ago, I moved a lot of things by myself. Going up and down the stairs was miserable! I made the pact with myself that when I moved out I would hire someone.

And that’s exactly what I did. 🙂

Here are 3 companies/organizations that I can whole heartedly recommend if you’re looking to move.

Meathead Movers-Student Athlete Movers of California

Contact Info:

A friend of mine just recently moved a couple of months ago. Since I was also looking for movers, I asked her who she used. She recommended Meathead Movers. I laughed because when I was talking about moving, my uncle said something about Meathead Movers. I didn’t think that was a real company, and look, it is! Meathead Movers uses college students to help make your move easier. My friend said that they have a no-break incentive, so if they don’t break anything during the move, the movers get a bonus. However, one of the things I like best about Meathead Movers is that they donate time and efforts to help end domestic violence. The Fresno branch reaches out to Marjaree Mason Center. They will also help move a woman out of a home where there is domestic violence-for free.

Five Star Moving Company

A different friend of mine found a Groupon for Five Star Movers when she moved almost 2 years ago. I happened to be there helping her the day of, so I was able to get to see these guys in action. There were 3 of them, and they were all very courteous, professional, and kind. If my friend didn’t have anything packed up, they would have packed for her. They maneuvered the stairs with ease, and didn’t complain once. In fact, they were joking around with us. They really seemed to like their job. To have someone in your home, moving your valuables, you want them to like what they’re doing. Or at least pretend to. 😉 Their price was pretty reasonable, and I liked the way they did business so much, that they were going to be the company I used when I moved.

That is, until I saw this….

Oscar Rodriguez-Fatherhood Company

Contact Info:

Oscar- 559-470-4134

Oscar happens to go to my church, so we’re friends on Facebook. I saw his flyer posted on Facebook right about the time when I was planning my move. I wanted to support him, because he runs a non-profit for the children in the Lowell Neighborhood. He offers an after school program, as well as holiday events for the neighborhood. He uses all of his extra money to make Martin Park the best place for the community. He was extremely reasonable in his prices, and I was happy to support him and his organization. While I did move a lot of little things on my own, Oscar and his helpers moved all of my big items. What a relief!!!

I’ve heard nothing but good things about these organizations/companies, which is why I’m recommending them. I’m sure there are other moving companies, but I can only speak to these three. While these companies will not take away all of the stress that comes along with moving, they will help to drastically reduce it.

So, with that…..Happy moving!

PS-Remember to offer your movers something to drink. (Especially during the summer.) Also, if you can bake them some cookies, I’d bet they’d like it. I actually didn’t do this, because well, packing and moving was on my brain. However, as I was offering water, I wished I had something extra to offer. Next time-cookies!

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
