Like it or not, the holiday season is upon us.  Go into any of the big box stores and you are already seeing Christmas decorations.  Everything is red and green; it has me asking myself where did the year go?

If you are like me, you will want to make plenty of memories with your loved ones this holiday season.  A wonderful way to do that is taking in a live stage show.

You do not have to travel to New York or San Francisco to see a quality production.

Since 1973 Good Company Players in Fresno has been providing professional-level training to local performers of all ages while also providing the community with challenging and entertaining exposure to theatre.

Audra McDonald is a huge Broadway star. She’s won six Tony Awards, more than any other actor.  The Roosevelt High School graduate got her start performing with Good Company Players in the 1980s.

The next Audra could be part of the current crop of actors performing.

Good Company Players has two venues.  Both are in Fresno’s Tower District.

The first is Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater located at 1226 N. Wishon.

This year’s holiday show is A Christmas Story: The Musical.  It’s the musical version of the classic Warner Brother’s Film.  There will be plenty of tap dancing!  It’s the perfect family show.

A Christmas Story: The Musical opens November 10^th and runs through January 8^th.

There are performances Thursday through Sunday.  There are usually two shows on Sundays, one in the afternoon and one in the evening.

A buffet is offered on Thursdays and Sundays and a sit down dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

Not interested in eating?  Show only tickets are also available.

Prices vary and there are discounts for seniors, students and members of the military.

The second Good Company Players venue is 2^nd Space Theatre.  It is located at 928 E. Olive.

This year’s holiday production is “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.” It is based on classic film, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

You know the one, with Jimmy Stewert.  It has the famous line -“Every time a bell rings and angle gets its wings.” I just love it!

“It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” begins November 3^rd at 2^nd Space Theatre.  It runs through December 18^th.

Performances are Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.  Tickets are $20.  Students and seniors are $17.
