Fresno’s Own on the World Stage: Cheering for Max Arfsten and the USMNT Tonight!

What an incredible time to be a sports fan in Fresno! If you haven’t heard the buzz around town yet, let me be the first to tell you: tonight is a massive night for our city and our country. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is finally here on home soil, and when the United States Men’s National Team takes the pitch at 6:00 PM PST against Paraguay, we’ll have one of our very own out there representing the red, white, and blue.

I’m talking about Max Arfsten, wearing number 16 for the USMNT. For those of you who have been following local soccer over the years, that name should ring a bell. Max is a Fresno native and a proud alumnus of my alma mater, San Joaquin Memorial High School. Seeing a fellow Panther reach the absolute pinnacle of their sport is something that gives me goosebumps.

From the Valley to the World Cup

It feels like just yesterday Max was tearing it up on the fields right here in the Central Valley. During his time at San Joaquin Memorial, he put together a season that people still talk about—scoring 51 goals and logging 19 assists to earn Player of the Year honors. Since then, his journey has been nothing short of inspiring. From playing collegiately at UC Davis to grinding his way through the MLS ranks, he’s proven that hard work and resilience pay off.

Now, as a standout for the Columbus Crew, he’s earned his spot on the 26-man World Cup roster. He’s the first Fresno native to ever make it to this stage in the World Cup. As someone who spends my days coaching, building businesses, and helping families find their dream homes in this community, I can tell you that Max’s story is the ultimate testament to the spirit of Fresno. We are a city of grinders, dreamers, and achievers. When Max steps onto the grass at SoFi Stadium tonight, he isn’t just playing for the United States; he’s carrying the pride of the entire 559 with him.

The Match You Don’t Want to Miss

Tonight’s game is the highly anticipated opener for the USMNT. The atmosphere down in Los Angeles is going to be electric, and you can bet the energy will be just as high in living rooms and sports bars all across Fresno.

Here are the details you need so you don’t miss a second of the action:

•Who: USA vs. Paraguay

•When: Tonight, June 12, at 6:00 PM PST

•Where to Watch: Fox (English) or Telemundo (Spanish)

Whether you’re a die-hard soccer fanatic or just someone who loves seeing local kids make it big, this is a moment to celebrate. Grab your family, throw on your USA gear, and let’s show Max some serious hometown support.

Let’s go USA, and let’s go Max! Make Fresno proud!

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
