What an incredible time to be a sports fan in Fresno! If you haven’t heard the buzz around town yet, let me be the first to tell you: tonight is a massive night for our city and our country. During his time at San Joaquin Memorial, he put together a season that people still talk about—scoring 51 goals and logging 19 assists to earn Player of the Year honors. Since then, his journey has been nothing short of inspiring. From playing collegiately at UC Davis to grinding his way through the MLS ranks, he’s proven that hard work and resilience pay off.
Now, as a standout for the Columbus Crew, he’s earned his spot on the 26-man World Cup roster. He’s the first Fresno native to ever make it to this stage in the World Cup. As someone who spends my days coaching, building businesses, and helping families find their dream homes in this community, I can tell you that Max’s story is the ultimate testament to the spirit of Fresno. We are a city of grinders, dreamers, and achievers. When Max steps onto the grass at SoFi Stadium tonight, he isn’t just playing for the United States; he’s carrying the pride of the entire 559 with him.
