If you’ve driven past Willow and Nees lately, you may have noticed a new black-and-white sign catching the morning light – and if you’re a bagel person, I’m about to make your week.
Posh Bagel just opened on the northwest corner of Willow & Nees, tucked near Deli Delicious and The Curry Pizza Kitchen, and it’s already worth a visit. This is a long-awaited next venture from the owners of The Loving Seed, the acai and fresh bowl spot with locations in northwest Fresno and Clovis – so if you’ve been a fan of theirs, you’ll likely want to stop in to Posh soon, too!

The space itself sets the tone before you even order: black and white decor, cute little bistro tables with mini lamps, big leather chairs for the dine-in crowd, and a sprawling mural of a city scene that felt distinctly New York-ish – a nice nod to where bagels are king. They’re open seven days a week, 6:30 to 3:30, though they’re still easing through their soft opening so please be patient with the staff as their learning the menu, and quantities of each bagel they need to make daily.

I walked in for my first visit and was delighted to spot a familiar face behind the counter – Goretti, who used to manage The Loving Seed’s Clovis location, and who I first knew years ago from Le Parisian (she was always so kind to our family on our many weekend crepe runs there). Fresno is both a big city and small town sometimes, in a good way.

The menu is pretty expansive, give yourself time to make a decision because it will be a little tricky. I went for The Bourdain, though the jalapeño bagels had already sold out that day (fair, honestly, I may be biased but I love a jalapeño bagel!), so I had it on asiago instead – still excellent. I grabbed a Posh PB&J on a cinnamon crunch bagel for a coworker, who reported back happily on its gooey goodness. Another coworker’s cinnamon raisin bagel got rave reviews too, especially since she’s been striking out trying to find cinnamon raisin bagels on her Costco runs lately.

Beyond the classics, there’s a genuinely deep bench here: French-style pastries, an extensive coffee menu with both regular and “signature” drinks, smoothies, and open-face bagels. Then there’s a whole second menu of savory deli bagel sandwiches, melts, and pizza bagels – plus a chip display by the register that all but announces this place isn’t just a breakfast stop, lunch crowd, they’d be happy to have your business, too.

If you’re the kind of person who has opinions about bagels (density! chew! the cream cheese to bagel ratio!), Posh Bagel is worth building into your rotation. You can find them at the northwest corner of Willow and Nees in NE Fresno, open daily from 6:30am to 3:30pm. Enjoy!
