Enjoy a cool pool and hot prose at Lit Splash this Saturday

Do you like swimming pools on hot summer days? How about supporting local literature? There’s a great opportunity for you to enjoy both this weekend. On Saturday, June 9, you can cool off in Fresno State’s swimming pool while listening to readings from local authors.

Lit Splash

Lit Splash is put on by the Fresno State Creative Writing Alumni Chapter (the same folks who brought you Lit Pup at Gazebo Gardens last year). It’s a great way to cool down and enjoy some local poetry and prose. The event features a long list of readers, including May Yang (HAUNTIE), Will Freeney, Eddie P. Gomez, Sally Vogl, and more.

Coordinator Jefferson Beavers explains, “Last year, our alumni chapter did two mixers: Back to the Bucket on campus and Lit Pup at Gazebo Gardens. The first one was an opportunity to get alumni back to Fresno State to read at their favorite old hangout spot. The second was an opportunity to have people dress their dogs like their favorite literary figures.

So this year we figured Lit Splash would be a good chance to get some people together at the University Courtyard Pool by the campus dorms, which is actually a hidden gem of a spot. We will have popsicles, sparkling drinks, and probably some free pool noodles from the Dollar Store.”

So to summarize: free food and snacks, a potential for pool noodles, and great literature! What could be better?

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
