The Great Post-Christmas Ornament Hunt

I realized a few weeks ago that I somehow was lucky enough to be one of the FresYes writers you’re stuck with on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day AND New Year’s Day. And seriously, who wants to read about any of my thoughts for three holidays in a row, fashion or otherwise?!

So I searched my brain for something fashion-related to write about for the few of you who aren’t busy opening presents or who are perhaps reading this because you need to look busy to escape crazy Aunt Winifred. (I sort of just typed that. Then I realized I actually have an Aunt Winifred. She is not crazy. lol)

Finally, I just decided to write about one of my own favorite Christmas traditions: crazy holiday ornaments, and the hunt for half-priced ones the day after Christmas. Am I the only one who likes bargain shopping for decorations after Christmas?

My sister told me as I was doing the tree this year that it was tacky. She wants something out of Martha Stewart’s house. I like my ornaments to have character and a story, whether they’re old favorites from my childhoods or new finds.

I already bought some new ones from the World Market Black Friday sale this year.

The left is my dad's, the right is mine. We are definitely two peas in a pod!

But normally I add to my collection on December 26th. I don’t feel like paying $14 for an ornament, so I gotta wait until things are half price or more! I try to scope out some favorites while I’m out and about doing my Christmas shopping. As always, there was a combination of cute and crazy out there.

Ornaments at Macy's: I don't event now where to start. The pickle? The cupcake with legs?

Target definitely has my favorite ones. Teeny tiny Coke cans and coffee mugs! I love tiny things. WANT.

Anthropologie definitely has the combination of whimsical and wacky down pat.

I also tried to find some Fresno ornaments for the tree this year. That was a little tricky. I’d love to hear from you all if you’ve been able to find any! The closest I got was a selection of pretty Fresno State ornaments on Amazon.

Fresno State ornamentWith all of these choices available, I can’t be the only one who buys ornaments shaped like Starbucks cups and KitchenAid mixers right? Am I the only one? I’m starting to develop a complex, but it won’t stop me from having a “tacky” tree next year. Or prevent me from hanging up this awesome KISS ornament that I got at Friendsmas.

Did I get it right???

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you’re getting as much joy out of the holidays as I am!

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
