Shop local for a cause at Cowgirl Clutter

My favorite kind of store opened in Clovis this weekend. The kind that has cute clothes and adorable accessories. The kind that is local and unique. But most importantly, the kind that has a heart for giving back to the community.

Cowgirl Clutter embraces the spirit of Clovis with a mix of soft, feminine clothing, western-style purses and chunky metal jewelry. There is cute stuff for babies, beautiful home decor and shirts emblazoned with country song lyrics.

But the most special section of the store is one devoted to selling items benefiting the Fresno chapter of Pink Heals, an organization that supports individuals dealing with cancer.

Fresno chapter of Pink Heals

Cowgirl Clutter owner Codi Ricken has a connection to the group because she has known several friends who have dealt with cancer in their families. While I was in the store, a couple came in who had recently lost their young daughter to cancer. Her father told me about how Pink Heals came to their house around Christmas last year in their signature pink fire truck, laden down with gifts. And when the little girl passed away, Ricken said, Pink Heals lined the street of the family’s home with their truck, pink police cars and candles to greet the couple with support when they returned from the hospital.

The Pink Heals section of the boutique has aptly-colored sweatshirts, trucker hats, candles, quilts and even boots customized by Ricken. All the proceeds from these items will go directly back to the organization. Additionally, Ricken will be donating a portion of what she makes in the rest of Cowgirl Clutter to a different organization each quarter, and Pink Heals is one of the groups on her list.

It’s rare to find a business – especially a small, local one- that’s so focused on charitable giving. So check Cowgirl Clutter out! The store is located just south of the Barnyard Shopping Center at 1526 Clovis Ave. (The sign over the store still says it’s a notary office, but just look for the Cowgirl Clutter logos in the windows!)

Oh, and stay tuned for next week’s blog, because Cowgirl Clutter also sells stun guns – yes, stun guns! – for women’s defense, and I’ll be talking all about them!

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
