I promise I’m not confused, I surely do know that it is the Saturday before Thanksgiving but being that I don’t send out a newsletter on Thursday, I’m taking the liberty of telling you Happy Thanksgiving now.  An interesting fact about me… this used to be my most favorite holiday. Most every year it’s cold enough that you need a sweatshirt but can wear shorts, leaves are still falling, you can often smell the smoke from a fireplace or two. The food was always delicious, I would be home and able to help prepare it, no matter my age.  The family would come together, watch some golf and then some football, we would most every year go for a walk. So many great memories. That was until my Dad passed away after an 18 month battle with cancer – just a few days after Thanksgiving. Since then, the holiday has never been the same. I honor him by making his famous dressing (seriously this stuff-ing (<– see what I did) is so good… I wish you could try it. I visit his graveside each year on Thanksgiving as well – the holiday is still special, just in a different way now.  I give thanks that he is no longer suffering, I give thanks for the family I have that is alive and for my friends and loved ones near and far – and for you, I give thanks that you read my words each and every week.  Blessings to you and your family.

–  Jason Farris

Thank you!!  Thank you Fresno for being our home and for taking time today to celebrate family and our lives together.

Not wanting to cook this Thanksgiving?

Check out our list of where to pick up the best locally crafted Thanksgiving meals

*** URGENT – some of the restaurants on the list have deadlines that have passed or are about to pass. That said, Last year I got on a waiting list and was able to pick up some sides. So make sure to call before giving up on your favorite local place and their freshly made dinners and sides.Thanksgiving is an exciting time, but planning the perfect Thanksgiving get-together can be a bit of a challenge—especially when it comes to feeding everyone. Making a Thanksgiving feast involves a lot of prepping, cooking, storing, cleaning, and organizing, but what if you just want to avoid all of that this year? Luckily, Fresno is home to some great eateries, stores, restaurants, and catering services. This is our list of where to pick up the best, locally crafted, Thanksgiving meals.

So you are cooking and hosting both… Natali to the rescue!

I have hosted my family’s Thanksgiving dinner for the better part of the last 12 years. I don’t claim to be Martha Stewart. I don’t make themed place card holders or pilgrim hats for the youngest attendees (my kiddo is the only child who comes to dinner in the immediate family and he’s 14 now and I probably would have to pay him to wear a paper hat), but I have had people tell me they’ve enjoyed themselves, loved the food served and felt relaxed and comfortable in our home, which is exactly what I aim for.

This looks SOOO good!!

Do you decorate for Thanksgiving?

I’m not judging… If you haven’t; decorated yet, it’s cool by me. If you skip it altogether and just go straight to Christmas, that’s fine too. But if you are wanting to decorate this year for Thanksgiving, we’ve put together a small list of ideas that it’s not too late to execute.

NEED HELP DECORATING YOUR HOME THIS THANKSGIVING?Wow your holiday guests and surround your scrumptious spreadwith these top Thanksgiving decorations: Give Thanks bannerArray of chalk painted pumpkinsGratitude tree with acorn “leaves”Pumpkin topiariesBuffalo check tablecloths, runners, place cards, ribbons (no such thing as too much buffalo check!)Vintage cake stands Fall or pumpkin-themed welcome doormatChunky knit blankets (for post-meal naps)Autumn-themed tea towels and hand soaps for guest bathAnd last but not least – Your kid’s adorbs turkey crafts Thanksgiving is gonna be here so soon — best be getting ready. Rest assured, I’ll be doin’ the same!

 Outdoor Activities On Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and this year’s forecast calls for beautiful weather! With the recent lockdowns and travel restrictions lifted, we’re expecting a big Thanksgiving this year—with many seeing family members they haven’t seen in a while, and many more having their first communal gathering in quite some time.

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Fresno? I say FresYES

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
