What’s Hot & Happening February 17 – 19

By FresYes Writing Team

The weather in Fresno this weekend is expected to be sunny and warm. This makes it a great time to enjoy some of the outdoor activities that Fresno has to offer. With clear blue skies and sunshine, it’s a great time to get out and enjoy all that is Fresno. We’ve got quite a few great things for you to do this week!

Tower District’s 25th Annual Mardi Gras Parade

Mardi Gras, which means “Fat Tuesday” in French, is a festive celebration that takes place annually before the beginning of the Christian season of Lent.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans is marked by parades, parties, and masked balls, and it is known for its colorful costumes, elaborate floats, and lively music. The festival is steeped in tradition and symbolism, with different colors, costumes, and decorations representing different aspects of the celebration.

The 25th Annual Mardi Gras Parade returns to the Tower District Sunday, February 19th @ 1pm.

The parade makes it way down Olive Avenue in the historic Tower District from Palm to Maroa. Food and drink specials at local businesses, lots of decorations, beads and VIP parade seating at select locations.

Did you know: The colors of Mardi Gras, are purple, green, and gold, which are said to represent justice, faith, and power, respectively.

The FresYes Explorer

For this week’s mission we’re heading to The Crawfish Guy. We’re keeping with the Mardi Gras theme, right?

They are located at 5730 N First St, Fresno, CA 93710

Start by picking your seafood. There’s a big chalkboard with everything available. They probably have crab available – you might even have a choice of King, Snow or Dungeness, add Clams, Mussels or whatever hits you. For us, it has to be the Crawfish.

Next pick your seasoning. They have Garlic Butter, Lemon Pepper, and Cajun but we’re going to suggest “Allsome Sauce” which just knocks it out of the park! Now pick your heat level. We were more than happy with Medium but you can go anywhere from Mild to Extra Spicy. You do you.

As a bonus, get an order of Garlic Noodles. You won’t regret it!

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
