What’s Hot & Happening August 4 – 6

By FresYes Writing Team

Well, it looks like we’re back in the triple digits again this weekend – but just barely! It shouldn’t be too bad, especially if you plan it right. We heard from some positive feedback from some of you on our little factoids on the Moon from last weekend. Thanks!

At the risk of making you feel any warmer, let’s do a little on the Sun. Point a strong fan at you, turn the A/C up to full and let’s do this.

Sunrise this weekend is going to be at 6:07 AM on Friday and then 6:08 on Saturday and the same on Sunday (sort of). Sunset is going to be at 8:02, 8:01 and 8:00 PM for the same days. Remember the days are getting shorter but it’s not always a full or exact minute each day.

THE MATHS

Given that we know Sunrise and Sunset, we can determine the actual amount of time the sun is up. Friday that time will be 13 hours, 55 minutes and 18 seconds. (We’ll just tell you now that this is going to be on the Saturday Quiz.)

Speaking of Saturday, the Sun will be up for 13:53:27 and Sunday it will be 13:51:36. That’s roughly about one minute and 50 some odd seconds shorter each day.

Did you know that Noon isn’t actually the point where the Sun is at it’s highest? At least not right now. That happens at about 1:05 PM right now. It’s called the “Solar Noon“. Now you know!

For the Explorer this week we are sending you on a mission. You might have already read our “The BEST Ice Cream in Fresno / Clovis!” – it has a poll too. Waffle Cone, Sugar Cone or bowl, it’s no accident that we listed 6 of our favorite places to get a scoop of that good stuff. Drop a couple of Lactaid Pills and go try at least one of them each day. Ice Cream for Breakfast? Sure! Well how about an Early Lunch? That’ll work!

While you might be a Van/Choc/Straw kind of person – take this opportunity to branch out and try something you might not have yet. Case in Point: Ampersand is just releasing their August Flavors but in July you could have tried their Juniper Lime Sorbet.

What? Juniper? Lime? in a Vegan Sorbet? Never, you say?

And yet, that combo was perfectly fine when you went down to your local dive bar and had a few G&Ts. Juniper is a predominate flavor in many Gins. Tonic doesn’t add much but there’s always that big juicy lime squeeze at the top. The point being, keep an open mind to new things.

BONUS: If you happen to visit any of our favorites – snap a picture and share it on Instagram. Don’t forget to tag us. https://www.instagram.com/fresyes/. Now, if you happen to visit all 6 – do the same, and we have something special for you! (plus we’ll come see you in the hospital – wink wink).

Speaking of Ice Cream, you can get a Pint for a Pint in Old Town Clovis on Friday Night. Sign up for the Clovis Farmer’s Market Blood Drive here.

Now between all of your Scream Runs, you have some golden opportunities to get out and do some pretty cool things. We especially love Paint All The Feelings that was featured in Natali’s post. It’s Saturday from 9 – 10:30am. Check out her “5 Truly Unique Experiences to Enjoy in Fresno this August“

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
