Books, books, books!
I love books, a lot. I am not NerdMom for nothing;). We have 10 bookshelves and I am not allowed to really shop for books. I am limited to super special books or books I get for free to review. That is it. Everything else we read comes from the Library (like a basket a week). Ever. Except for 1 week a year! Then I shop! And that is the week of the annual Big Book Sale! And that week is here!!!
Once a year the Friends of the Fresno County Library throw a blow out used book sale out at Sierra Vista Mall! FOL collects tons of used books, and mean tons, and then they sell them at bargain prices. But this isn’t one of those situations where you want to just pop into the sale once, not this sale. There are new books put out continuously through out the sale. Last year there was about a quarter of a million books at the Big Book Sale!
I am sure you are wondering where all the money goes from the sale, right? It goes to back into the Friends of the Library group and directly back into the libraries. The Friends of the Fresno County Library is a group that comes along side the Fresno County Library to provide support (in time and stuff) to our local libraries. So if a library branch needs something other than books or administrative support they will submit it to their branch FOL as a request. In the past FOL has provided furniture, events, and so much more to our library branches.
So make sure you come out and buy books! And while you are there, sign up to joined Friends of the Fresno County Library! I admit, I may be a little biased because I do sit on the Board of Directors but only because it is a great organization!
Sale Details!
The sale will be held by the Sierra Vista Mall’s West Court entrance near Kohl’s.
The dates and times are:
Thursday, August 20: 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday, August 21: 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 22: 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 23: 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
And if you have books you would like to donate just bring them with you when you come to shop!
