Summer in FresYes (or at least, very hot weather) is coming up fast. Spending the day keeping cool in the pool is a time-honored way to coast through those 100+ degree days that are inevitably coming our way.

And while we are still currently enjoying the blossoming trees and the respite between the rain and the heat, it’s also the official time of year to sign up for swim lessons.

If you have a beginning swimmer in your house (or if that swimmer is you), you’ve probably been looking into resources to help get out of those water wings and into full-on free swimming.

Here is a list of swim instructors in the Fresno and Clovis area that will help you or your little one level up from “Minnow” to “Shark” before you know it.

1. Jan Thomas Swim School

I learned to swim at this school in the (gulp) 1970s, and now my son is learning here too! Talk about a tried-and-true option: Jan Thomas Swim School has been a Fresno fixture for 59 years.

Baby and Me: Ages 9 months to 21 months, $130 for 8 lessons (30 min. each)
Private lessons: All Ages, $460 for 10 lessons (30 min. each)

Register ASAP; lessons only take place within a brief window, and classes fill up fast! There’s a small “medal ceremony” on the last day of classes. They automatically take underwater photos, and there is a fee to have the pics emailed to you.

I'm a seasoned traveler, am intrigued by just about anything creative, and enjoy activities that run the gamut- knitting, downhill skiing, reading, and swing dancing, just to name a few. And of course, I write.

I was born in Fresno and grew up here, as did my husband and my parents. I'm thrilled to be raising my young son here too! I've gone away for school and spent brief periods in other parts of California, but have always ended up homesick for my hometown.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
