Celebrity Chef Martin Yan is coming to the Central Valley to cook for fans. He’ll be at the Victorian Gardens of Two Sisters in Kingsburg on Saturday, June 23, from 6-9 p.m. as part of a fundraising event for ValleyPBS.

Martin Yan rose to fame with the Chinese cuisine cooking show Yan Can Cook, which has aired on PBS since 1982. Saturday’s event, TASTE with Martin Yan, will feature cooking demonstrations from the famed chef.

“We are very excited to have Chef Martin Yan visit the Central Valley,” says Candice Pendergrass, Director of Development and Marketing for ValleyPBS. “In addition to his visit, we are looking forward to the opportunity to highlight our Valley food, wine, and culinary creativity.”

Local chefs will compete for “Best Taste in Town”

Yan will be joined by local chefs Rod Hansen from The Painted Table, David Vartanian of the Vintage Press, Liz Sanchez of Casa de Tamales, and Tony Lemus of Heights Catering. The chefs will use farm fresh produce as they go head to head in a cooking competition. Yan’s favorite dish will receive the title of “Best Taste in Town.”

Guests will be able to enjoy food prepared by Martin Yan and the local chefs. There will also be wine tasting from local wineries including Kings River Winery, CRU Wine Company, Moravia Wines, and Quady Winery.

“It’s going to be a unique blending of farm-to-table cuisine and Valley wines,” Pendergrass says. “It’s the first event for ValleyPBS in the last decade that highlights a PBS chef. We hope to turn TASTE into a yearly event.”

Tickets available now

Guests will have the opportunity to meet Yan, who says he’ll sign autographs and take pictures. They’ll also receive a wine glass. “The funds raised for this event will go directly to supporting ValleyPBS’s mission, including educational outreach efforts,” Pendergrass says.

Tickets to the event are $50 per person and are available at valleypbs.org/taste or by calling (559) 266-1800 ext. 290.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
