Who are you, where did you come from, and what do you do?
I am Nicholas Huerta. I was born in Visalia, Ca. and raised in the Central Valley. After graduating from Buchanan High School in 1999, I enlisted in the US Army. I retired in 2019 with 20 years of military service.
After having been part of a deli franchise for several years, my dreams of entrepreneurship came to fruition in December 2019 when I opened The Pickled Deli in Visalia. My business survived the worst of the pandemic by the grace of God and the unwavering support of the amazing community it serves. My business adventures brought me to Fresno as I opened my second location in March of 2022 located on First and Nees, in the Smart & Final shopping center.
And what about the business?
We serve premium, fresh foods at affordable prices for an exciting culinary experience. The Pickled Deli was created to make a difference, not only do we serve incredible food, we take pride in supporting our community. Expanding to Fresno was a huge blessing for us. We look forward to serving the Fresno area and welcoming the community to our Pickled Deli family of customers.
Tell us about something that you do that makes you stand out?
I’m a local guy with a background in the deli business. I may have graduated from Buchanan and my heart is loyal to them but, my community is now Clovis West and the surrounding area. My 20 years of military service was a blessing and I pay it forward when I can. I know the importance of being part of a healthy community like Visalia where my first location was established in 2020.
We take pride in partnering and sponsoring local events, school events and programs. Establishing relationships with local nonprofits in helping fund raise where we can. Connecting our customers with great food and friendly service is what we are about. Sit for awhile and enjoy your time at our deli. We look forward to serving you!
What is it that most people DON’T know about your business?
Our sandwiches are made with the best bread from a local bakery, Basque French Bakery that is located in downtown Fresno and was established in 1963.
Our specialty fried pickles are unique and the flavor definitely sets us apart from others with fried pickles.
Anything coming up?
We are hosting a cornhole tournament sponsored by DPL Cornhole in the near future. In December we provide fundraising to Central Valley Children’s Hospital by selling our Christmas Pickles ornaments and stuffed doll.
