A new era is underway for the Fresno State Men’s Basketball team as they kick off the 2018-19 season with new head coach Justin Hutson.

The Bakersfield native comes to Fresno State following assistant coaching gigs at San Diego State, UNLV, Cal Poly, and Cal State Bakersfield. Hutson also previously coached at Bakersfield High School.

Hutson is inheriting a team that has won at least 20 games in four of the past five seasons.

Are you ready to say “Go Bulldogs”? Basketball returns to the Save Mart Center.

“One of the best teams in the conference”

“All-Mountain West guard Deshon Taylor is one of the conference’s best players,” says E. Jay Zarett, writer for Sporting News.

Taylor is regarded as one of the best guards in the country. He averaged 17.7 points per game last season and earned first-team All-Mountain West honors.

Sporting News says they expect Fresno State to have a strong season and to compete with Mountain West powerhouses Nevada and San Diego State for the top spot in the division.

“Fresno State has enough talent on its roster to be one of the best teams in the conference,” Zarett says. “An influx of transfers provides the Bulldogs with multiple lineup options. The Bulldogs have a real chance to be playing meaningful games in March.”

March Madness is always the goal in college basketball. The best teams advance to play in the NCAA tournament. The Bulldogs were last there in 2016.

Fresno State Men’s Basketball schedule

Fresno State’s regular season got underway earlier this week. They play their next four games on the road, including at TCU on Nov. 15.

The Bulldogs will spend Thanksgiving in Southern California. They’re taking part in the Wooden Legacy Tournament. Their game against Northwestern on Nov. 22 will air on ESPNU.

Fresno State will play seven games in a row at home between Nov. 28 and Dec. 29. They’ve never played that many in a row at the Save Mart Center.

The seven-game stretch includes match-ups against Pacific, Cal Poly, Weber State, Long Beach State, Cal, UT Martin, and Utah Valley University.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
