What’s Hot & Happening January 20 – 22

By FresYes Writing Team

Weekend things to do in and around Fresno

We have a break in the weather this weekend and while it’s going to be cool, it’s also going to be a great opportunity to get out and shake off some of that cabin fever. Take it while you can.

The Reverend Horton Heat

Nobody asked us, but we had to feature it when we saw The Rev. was coming to Fresno! The Reverend Horton Heat, known as the “godfather of modern rockabilly and psychobilly,” is performing in Fresno for one night only at Fulton 55. The band is known for their high-speed guitar runs, thundering rhythms, swagger, and witty lyrics, and is considered one of the most popular psychobilly artists.

Joining them is The Surfrajettes, a four-piece instrumental combo from Toronto, Canada, known for their blend of psychedelic rock and surf music, as well as their go-go boots and thick eyeliner. Check them out.

Details: Sat, January 21, 2023, 8:00 PM PST, Doors at 7:00 PMFulton 55 875 Divisadero Fresno, CA 93721Advance tickets available: HERE

Food Explorer

Last week we dared you to go out and taste a beer you hadn’t before (it was the Mission Wolf Brown) and from all the reports we got back – you loved it! So let’s do that again only this time with food!

This week we featured two great food places that are very different from each other.

Kemp BBQ

Your challenge this week is to get over to Kemp BBQ in Clovis and see what kind of magic Post Oak can do to a Texas style smoked brisket. To be safe, you better call ahead first, they sell out! Details are all in FresYes Interview: Kemp BBQ.

If you are really in explorer mode, on Saturday they feature what they call Jurassic Beef Ribs. Try them and let us know if they really are “beef pillows”.

Las Mañanitas

Described as a top ten spot on Yelp’s review site for having one of the best brunches in the US. Wait? Did you really say the U.S.? You’ve no doubt heard about their food. You might not have tried it just because the wait times were so freaking long, right?

Well, good news! Natali gave us an inside look at their new (not so busy) location. Same great food – now with plenty of tables! Check it out at “Downtown Welcomes First New Food Court Tenant & Their Famed Breakfast Dishes” and when you do we want to know your opinion!

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Fresno? I say FresYES

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
