Did you know that the Fresno/Clovis area has a vibrant and growing pub quiz and trivia night scene? It truly does! These team events are such a fun excuse to get together with friends on a weeknight, have a good drink, test your knowledge, and enjoy a little friendly competition.
My husband and I were invited to join a team that plays every other Tuesday at the Sierra Taproom inside Sierra Sport and Racquet Club. The first time we went, we were shocked at how packed the room was and how seriously some teams were taking it. But the real surprise was how much fun we had. I left thinking, “Why didn’t we start doing this sooner?” (Of note: that event is pretty much at capacity with regularly participating teams currently) That night inspired me to round up a list of other great spots where you can join the trivia fun here in town.

A Few Tips Before You Go
- Arrive early. If the game starts at 7, try to get there at least by 6:30 if not 6. These events are popular, and it’s no fun scrambling for chairs at the last minute. Plus, arriving early gives you time to order a drink, grab food, and chat with your teammates before the focus shifts entirely to the quiz.
- Bring a full team. If the limit is 8 people and you show up with 5, you’ll still enjoy yourself, but you’ll also wish you had those extra three brains when a tough sports or history question pops up.
- Mix it up. Trivia questions come from all over and across many decades — pop culture, history, science, sports, music, so it pays to have teammates with different interests, ages, and backgrounds. Your college roommate who knows random geography facts, your cool coworker who keeps up with every new show, your neighbor who loves classic rock — all of them add something to the mix. Plus, inviting someone new is a great way to build connections. Everyone loves feeling like you think they have knowledge to contribute.
