I was recently scrolling through TikTok when I came across not one, but two local creators raving about a deli across from the Save Mart Center at Fresno State called Dervo’s Deli and Grill. The food looked so good that my coworkers and I decided we had to try it for ourselves.

We headed over during the lunch hour. While we weren’t the only customers, it wasn’t so busy that we had any trouble finding parking, grabbing a table, or getting served quickly. (Note: Dervo’s is popular with Fresno State students, so I imagine it’s busier during the school year. Our visit was during summer break.) When we walked in, a friendly cashier greeted us and handed us paper menus to make browsing easier, though the full menu was also displayed on screens behind the counter.
Dervo’s menu is extensive but classic. They offer both cold and hot sandwiches, including options that are harder to find elsewhere like a Cubano, Philly Cheesesteak, Chicken Philly, Roast Beef with Mushroom and Swiss, and a Pastrami & Provolone. You can also build your own custom sandwich if you prefer.
From the grill, you’ll find premium half-pound burgers like the Avocado Bacon Burger and the Chipotle Burger, along with specialty options including Dervo’s take on a chopped cheese and a patty melt.
In addition to burgers, they serve six different crispy chicken sandwiches. My coworkers tried the Classic Fried Chicken, which came with mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and jack cheese, and the Honey BBQ, which came with honey BBQ sauce, pickle, onion, and cheddar. The sandwiches were huge and served on fresh sesame seed buns. I went with a build-your-own turkey and bacon sandwich with pepper jack on Dutch crunch bread, and it was absolutely loaded.
The sides menu made it hard to choose — everything sounded tempting! Alongside chips and kaleslaw, Dervo’s offers classic fries, beer-battered fries, crisscut fries, sweet potato fries, and crispy golden onion rings. One thing I really appreciated was that all the fried sides were available in either half or full orders. I opted for a half, and it was still very generous. I usually skip soda when eating out, but Dervo’s has Cherry Pepsi, and I can’t say no to cherry cola.
It was a hot day when we visited, but the casual, self-seating dining room was clean, cool, and comfortable.
In addition to dine-in service, Dervo’s also offers catering. Their menu lists sandwich trays that feed 10-14 people for $85, and giant salads that serve a crowd for $55. After seeing the quality and portions firsthand, those prices feel more than reasonable.
I highly recommend checking out Dervo’s if you haven’t already. It’s definitely going to be a regular lunch stop for my coworkers and me, and I’m looking forward to taking my family soon too. What a great find!

I’m a huge fan of Dervo’s but is this a sponsored post?
Hi! Nope, not sponsored. If you check out my other articles on the blog you’ll see that I’m all about finding awesome new local spots and sharing about them here. I was not invited, and spent my own hard earned money on the meal. Can’t wait to go back, my husband loves a good Cubano sandwich and I know he’ll enjoy it! Thanks for reading. -Natali C.
