Fresno’s coffee scene just got a very exciting new addition, and if you haven’t heard about Rumi Coffee yet, consider this your official introduction.
Rumi Coffee opened its doors this past weekend on the northeast corner of Fresno and Alluvial in north Fresno, just a stone’s throw from Riverpark, and I stopped in today on just their fifth day open. I was not fully prepared for what I walked into, and I mean that in the absolute best way possible – it’s absolutely stunning.
Rumi Coffee is the latest project from local entrepreneur Hamed Alghazali, the same force behind Fabiano’s Coffee and Rumi Baklava.
Their Instagram describes Rumi as a place to sit and stay awhile, and walking through the door, you immediately believe that they mean it. The interior is open, airy, and genuinely gorgeous. Light fabrics, warm woods, and beautifully carved details in the coffee counter and booth seating areas give the space elegance but it feels welcoming rather than intimidating. Live plants throughout the room make everything feel fresh and alive, and the overall effect is one of the most thoughtfully designed interiors I’ve seen in any local coffee shop. There is even a flower bar just to the left of the ordering area where you can build your own bouquet, an unexpected touch that makes the place stand out even more for its uniqueness.
The seating capacity here is also unlike anything I’ve seen at a local coffee shop. There is a lot of room, and it is all comfortable and well arranged, making Rumi an ideal spot for studying, getting some work done, or settling in for a long catch up with someone you’ve been meaning to spend time with. They have genuinely built a space that invites you to linger, and I am very much here for it (we’ve really, really needed this in my opinion).
Now, the menu – its extensive and exciting, with something for everyone. Traditional coffee shop staples like americanos, lattes, cortados, mochas, cappuccinos, and drip coffee are all on offer, alongside a specialty latte menu featuring signature flavors that reflect the shop’s identity. The cardamom latte, orange blossom latte, golden date latte, and both a rose and date cream cold brew make up their signature drink menu. They also offer sparkling drinks in pomegranate hibiscus, mint lemon, and espresso lime, as well as Yemeni mofawar, adeni chai, and four different matcha options. Milk choices include whole, oat, and almond.
On the food side, Rumi offers baklava and pastries, artisan toasts, salads, and two sandwiches; a mortadella and a sumac chicken, both served on focaccia. A full and thoughtful menu that gives you plenty of reasons to make this a regular stop.
For my first visit, I took my barista’s recommendation and ordered the Orange Blossom Latte with Sweet Cream Cold Foam, I also got a Golden Date Latte for my husband and an Iced Oat Milk Orange Blossom Matcha for my friend. Everything was smooth and creamy, made quickly, and priced at or slightly below what you’d expect from a local specialty coffee shop. Beyond the drinks themselves, what I kept noticing was the attention to detail in every single element of the experience. The to-go cups feature a unique attached spill stopper in a very practical style I’ve never seen before and the hot drink stoppers have little hearts on them. These are small things, but they add up to something that feels considered and intentional.
Customer service was warm, friendly, and unhurried. I was offered samples, never felt rushed, and left looking forward to coming back.

Rumi Coffee is a wonderful addition to Fresno, and I have a feeling it’s going to become a very beloved one very quickly. Go soon, order something you’ve never tried before, and plan to stay awhile. That’s exactly what this place was made for.
