Candy Ink Tattoos: Fresno’s All-Women Tattoo Studio Where Ink Meets Empowerment

If you’ve ever felt a little out of place walking into a traditional tattoo shop—like maybe it wasn’t built with you in mind—there’s a studio in town that’s flipping the script in the most beautiful way.

Meet Candy Ink Tattoos, a local, all-women tattoo studio where the vibe is supportive, the art is personal, and every detail is designed to help women feel good in their own skin. At the heart of it all is Milana Salas, a talented artist and entrepreneur with a vision and a story that’s as meaningful as the work she creates.

An Artist’s Journey to Healing

“I’ve always been obsessed with art,” Milana told me. “Especially the kind that tells a story.” Like many of us, she grew up sketching on everything—her notebooks, jeans, anywhere there was a blank space. But it wasn’t just the love of drawing that pulled her into the world of tattooing—it was the transformative power of it.

“After going through a lot in my own life, I realized how healing body art could be. It felt empowering to reclaim my body in such a beautiful way.” That experience sparked her mission to help other women do the same.

Creating Not Just a Studio, but a Safe Haven

The decision to open her own studio came from a need to create something different. “I’ve been in studios where the energy didn’t feel safe, where women—both clients and artists—were overlooked or sexualized. I wanted to build something that felt like home,” Milana said.

That “something” became Candy Ink Tattoos, a space that’s all about honoring women’s stories, strength, and self-expression.

“Women deserve a space that’s theirs,” she said simply. And that’s exactly what she’s created. Candy Ink is more than just a business with female artists—it’s a place designed for women clients, too.

Whether someone is healing from trauma, struggling with body image, or just looking for a more comfortable environment, this studio offers a space where they can relax, be themselves, and feel completely seen. “We’re not just a team of women tattooing—we’re women supporting women.”

Tattoos That Tell a Story

The artists at Candy Ink specialize in fine line designs, tiny tattoos, glitter tattoos, feminine florals, and dainty, detailed work. But the heart of what they do is about more than just style.

“We love creating tattoos with deeper meaning—little symbols, words, or images that carry emotional weight. There’s something about the intimacy of that kind of art that feels powerful without being loud.”

Milana shared a story about a young woman who came in to cover self-harm scars. “She was nervous, but as we talked, she opened up about her journey. When we finished, she looked in the mirror and said, ‘I don’t see pain anymore—I see art.’” Moments like that, she says, are why the studio exists.

Building a Team with Heart

When it comes to bringing new artists into the fold, Milana’s approach is all about alignment. “Talent matters, of course, but energy is everything,” she explained. “I look for women who are kind, grounded, and passionate—not just about tattooing, but about people.” Candy Ink isn’t a place for ego, but one for compassion, collaboration, and connection.

Changing the Culture

Like many industries, tattooing hasn’t always been the easiest place for women to thrive. But Milana is helping lead the charge toward something better. “I’ve been underestimated, dismissed—but now I get to build something that shows the next generation of female artists that they can lead, charge their worth, and create their own path.”

More Than Tattoos

Beyond tattoos, Candy Ink Tattoos regularly hosts women-led pop-ups, community events, and even tattoo training sessions for women looking to break into the industry. “It’s about more than ink—it’s about building a movement,” Milana said.

A Studio That Feels Like Coming Home

So what does Milana hope people feel when they walk through the studio doors?

“Seen. Safe. Inspired. I want every woman who walks in to feel like she just stepped into a space that was made with her in mind—where she doesn’t have to explain herself, play small, or mask who she is.”

Whether you’re a seasoned tattoo lover or thinking about your very first piece, Candy Ink Tattoos is a space where your story, your body, and your voice are honored—no judgment, no pressure, just genuine connection and beautiful art.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
