Whether you are having a bad day and are in need of a pick me up, or you’re having a great day and you want to keep it going – if you like coffee (or great Mexican-style breakfasts!) I’m going to suggest you get yourself over to Mi Cafecito.

Walking into Mi Cafecito (which translates to “my little coffee”) just feels good. This gem, a locally-owned and family-operated café, exudes the warmth and coziness of your favorite relative’s home. Its walls, painted in golden hues, complement the cute and comfy chairs. The tables, amply spaced, invite you to settle in and unwind. The team behind the coffee bar greets you with genuine kindness and warmth.
Mi Cafecito got it’s start in Manchester Mall, but has since expanded to a second location on Van Ness, just before McKinley between the Tower District and Fresno City College. This new(er) location offers a large front-porch style patio with plenty of seating in addition to its indoor café area. An eye-catching mural, crafted from books and encircled by the phrase “Hoy es un dia perfecto para ser feliz” (“Today is a perfect day to be happy”), offers a picturesque backdrop for those Insta-worthy moments.
Mi Cafecito’s coffee menu features drinks that are inspired by Mexican and Latin-American flavors like the Mazapan Latte, the Horchata Latte and the Paleta Payaso Latte as well as traditional coffee drinks like espressos, cappuccinos, americanos and drip coffee. They also offer seasonal specials, like their Valentine menu which features the Rebound (a banana mocha) and the Valentine (a cherry vanilla latte). Each drink is presented with a handwritten inspirational quote and crowned with a mini pan dulce. (Pan dulce are sweet Mexican breads that come in a variety of beloved shapes and flavors)
Breakfast at Mi Cafecito revolves around two stellar offerings: chilaquiles and tortas. For the uninitiated, chilaquiles is a comforting concoction of lightly fried tortillas drenched in salsa or sauce, often combined with eggs and/or a choice of meat. Tortas, the Mexican take on sandwiches, are generously filled and served on a telera roll with beans, queso fresco, and avocado, among other toppings.
In summary, Mi Cafecito stands as a perfect retreat for anyone looking to uplift their spirits or prolong a splendid day, offering delicious coffees (or energy drinks or abuelita cocoa) and filling, savory breakfasts.
Mi Cafecito is open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 7:00pm and Sundays from 10am to 6pm. They are located at 3502 N. Blackstone and 1495 N Van Ness in Fresno. You can follow them on Instagram to stay up to date with their latest specials and new menu items.
