Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some fun suggestions for events happening in Fresno and beyond.
Friday
Fresno Filmworks presents its monthly selection tonight at 5:30 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m. at the Tower Theatre. This month’s film is Vazante, the debut feature from Brazilian director Daniela Thomas.
At 6 p.m., you can celebrate National Raisin Month with a cooking class at Tree Of Life Café and Bakery. “Make Your Own Fresnola” will teach you how to make granola with fruits and nuts grown right here in Fresno. This class will also be held Saturday at 6 p.m.
Legally Blonde the Musical is being presented by Children’s Musical Theaterworks today and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
You can see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on the big screen at the Crest Theatre in downtown Fresno. Show starts at 8 p.m., and the cost is $5.
When Doves Cry—the Prince Tribute Show will take place at Fulton 55 at 9:30 p.m. This is a 21 and over show. Cost is $15-$20
Saturday
The 17th Annual Tower District Car Show will start at 8 a.m. Saturday. Hot rods and classic cars will line the streets.
Earth Day Fresno is holding its Earth Day 2018 celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Radio Park in Fresno. This is an event for the whole family. There will be vendors, food, demonstrations, and even free admission to Fresno Art Museum. A March for Science will take place at 3 p.m.
The second AlleyWave Alley Party will happen behind the Broadway Event Center in downtown Fresno. This family-friendly event starts at 12 p.m. and will include food trucks, vendors, live music, and more.
Draggin’ the Main “Cruise Night” is now a monthly event that will see classic cars cruising Fulton Street two hours before sunset on every second Saturday of each month. This starts at 5:30 p.m.
An Evening with Rei Hotoda and the Fresno Phil starts with bites and beverages at 6:30 p.m. at Bitwise South Stadium.
Nate’s Silent Movies at The Revue presents A Comedy Cavalcade, featuring short films by Charles Chaplin and Buster Keaton. Nate Silver will play piano over these silent films. Cartoons at 7 p.m., films at 8 p.m.
Sunday
The Spring Cultural Faire along with the Koen-Nai No Bonsai and Toko Kazari Competition will begin at 10 a.m. at the Shinzen Friendship Garden at Woodward Park.
Absolute Diamond—a Tribute to Neil Diamond is happening at CRU Winery in Madera at 1 p.m.. Pack a picnic, bring the kids, enjoy some wine and live music.
Local band Playback will be at El Patio in the Tower District from 4-7 p.m.
A tribute to Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff, founders of Blue Note Records, will take place at Tower District Records at 5 p.m.
