There’s so much happening in and around Fresno, sometimes you forget about an event until after it’s over. Enter FresYes.

Here are 10 things we’re excited about this week, including a couple happening tonight. Make sure to add them to your calendar now.

1. 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche

This one-performance-only show is happening tonight at 8 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Fresno. Breakfast will be provided (apparently?). Feels like this is one of those things you just show up to without knowing a lot about it ahead of time, and hang on for the ride. [Details]

10 things 2
Metalachi will be at Fulton 55 Friday

2. Metalachi Rocks Fresno

The world’s first and only heavy metal mariachi band. What more do you need to know? Tonight at 7 p.m. at Fulton 55 in Downtown Fresno. [Details]

3. Fresno Women’s March

Women, men, and children will gather at River Park from 2-4 p.m. Saturday in support of women and equal rights for anyone who has felt threatened by recent political events. Supporters are encouraged to bring signs of positivity, as opposed to those against any specific political figures. [Details]

4. Intro to Blacksmithing

Look, if things ever take a turn for the worse, having an actual, old-fashioned skill would be handy. This two-day class meets at Fresno Ideaworks in Downtown Fresno and starts Sunday at either 9 a.m. or 1 p.m. (your choice), and continues Jan. 29 (same times). [Details]

10 things 2
Do your dance thing at FAB Fresno Sunday

5. FAB T-Dance Brunch

Speaking of the end of the world, if it’s going to happen, you may as well dance. Enjoy free brunch and dancing with the purchase of a drink Sunday from noon-4 p.m. at FAB Fresno in the Tower District.

6. Learn About Fulton Street Investors

Those who want to actively participate in the revitalization of Downtown Fresno are encouraged to find out more about this group, which aims to invest in area real estate. The meeting will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Bitwise Industries. [Details]

7. Pecha Kucha Night Volume 24

Twenty slides, twenty seconds each. That’s how long each presenter has to talk on the topic of Community. Starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fulton 55 in Downtown Fresno. [Details]

10 things 2
Drink responsibly, and organically, at the Lime Lite this Wednesday

8. Garden Cocktails at the Lime Lite

Luke Fisher will bring his Garden Cocktails to the Lime Lite in Fresno Wednesday from 6-10 p.m. Luke’s hand-crafted cocktails make use of the local produce that’s abundant in the Central Valley and, like all good cocktails, feature that sweet, sweet booze. [Details]

9. Cross Cultural Workshop

Expand your awareness and understanding of other cultures by attending a workshop at the Holistic Cultural and Education Wellness Center in Fresno. This month’s presentation is “Prominent Challenges for Latinos in 2017”  by Dr. Alfredo Cuellar, and it will take place from 2-4 p.m.

10. Volunteer Orientation at Valley Animal Center

Want to become a protector of Valley animals? Start by attending this volunteer orientation from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at Valley Animal Center in Fresno. [Details]

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Fresno? I say FresYES

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
