A friend on the East Coast asked me if I could tell her ten interesting things about Fresno… I gave her twelve.

Raisin Capital of the World
Fresno is home to the largest raisin industry in the world, thanks to its ideal climate for growing grapes. The Sun-Maid company, one of the most famous raisin brands, is based here.

Underground Gardens
The Forestiere Underground Gardens is a unique network of subterranean rooms, courtyards, and passageways, all hand-dug by a Sicilian immigrant, Baldassare Forestiere, over 40 years.

Gateway to Yosemite
Fresno is the closest major city to Yosemite National Park, making it a perfect home base for exploring one of the most iconic natural wonders in the U.S.

Fresno Chaffee Zoo
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo features the incredible African Adventure exhibit, where you can get up close with lions, elephants, and other African animals.

Tower District Vibes
Fresno’s Tower District is a hub for arts, culture, and nightlife. It’s known for its eclectic mix of restaurants, theaters, and shops.

Blossom Trail Beauty
Every spring, the Fresno County Blossom Trail offers a stunning display of blooming fruit and nut trees, creating a colorful, scenic drive through the area.

Fresno’s Hidden History
Fresno was once a major stop on the Southern Pacific Railroad, contributing to its growth as an agricultural powerhouse in California.

Big Fig Love
Fresno County grows most of the nation’s figs, and you can find unique fig-based products like fig jam, fig balsamic, and even fig cakes.

Taco Heaven
Fresno boasts a vibrant food scene, and its taco game is strong. Locals and visitors rave about the variety and authenticity of the taco spots around town.

Home of Fresno State Bulldogs
Fresno State’s sports teams, especially their football team, have a passionate local following. Their mascot, TimeOut the Bulldog, is a beloved figure at games.

Birthplace of Tri-Tip BBQ
While Santa Maria might claim tri-tip fame, Fresno locals argue that their tri-tip barbecue game is equally legendary.

Historic Kearney Mansion
The Kearney Mansion Museum offers a glimpse into Fresno’s early agricultural history and the life of M. Theo Kearney, the “Raisin King.”

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Fresno? I say FresYES

How do you not mention Kings Canyon and the giant sequoias ? The largest and oldest living things on planet Earth, ever !! Before AG it was Timber. The longest Flume ever constructed was right here in the Central Valley from Sequoia Lake all the way to town, you could float on a log like like it was a water slide. But no mention at all? yep you must be a local.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
