Easy Bruschetta with Chef Bessy Acosta

They say behind every great man is an even more remarkable woman. That’s why I wasn’t surprised when Craig Scharton, owner of Peeve’s Public House and Local Market, let me into his kitchen to meet Chef Bessy Acosta (a.k.a. Chef Bess). She’s fun, she’s sweet, and knows good food. Bessy works with Craig to create their hyper local, ever-changing casual dining menu. She’s been catering for over 15 years, professionally cooking for five years, and had the privilege of training with renown local chef Roy Harland before coming to Peeve’s.

Earlier this year, Craig won the Men Who Can Cook Award with an incredible bruschetta. Wanna know a secret? It was Bessy’s recipe! It’s so simple, yet I think it was the freshness of the local ingredients that stole the hearts of voters.

Locally-owned farms/food vendors showcased in the video: KMK Farms, TUFF Farms, Max’s Artisan Breads, Rosenthal Olive Ranch, Ramos Torres Winery. All with items available on the market side of Peeve’s.

Peeve’s is located on the Fulton Mall in downtown Fresno. During the day, Peeve’s is a place to grab a coffee, beer or lunch with friends. At night, either during or after the dinner crowd, if you don’t see unique and talented musicians showcasing their skills, you’ll probably come across some other type of community gathering. And, you may even get a glimpse of Bessy running to the market side to make a quick shopping trip for a last-minute local ingredient.
