It’s Saturday, January 20, 2024, and as I sit here writing to you, the much-needed rain is gently tapping against the window. While this rain is a welcome sight for our city, I must admit, I’m crossing my fingers for a brief pause in the downpour this morning. Why, you ask? Well, it’s the beginning of rugby season, and today marks the first scrimmage at the high school my son plays for. Imagining those high school boys battling it out in the mud and rain brings a smile to my face, but this old guy would much prefer to watch the game under dry skies, thank you very much! |

Here, I must give a big shout-out to my friend Monica, who, due to losing a friendly wager earlier this year (the stakes? Wearing the winner’s choice of jersey), is now donning my beloved Dolphins colors. Kudos to Monica for being such a good sport! We often rave about the delightful beers crafted by our local breweries during the summer heat, but let’s not forget they deserve some winter love, too.
