Eat Local: Mom’s Ol’ Fashion Burgers

Do you ever have a favorite restaurant that brings back memories of when you were little. I do. There was a place I use to go to with my mom- it was called Angelo’s, off of Olive and Weber. The burgers were the best, the fries were greasy, and they used grenadine to make their cherry cokes. My grandpa said they use to be famous for their french dip sandwiches, but I always loved them for their burgers. There was a time when I lived around the corner from Angelo’s, and we’d go every so often as a treat. My mom would order the food, and we’d either wait outside, or sit in the car. The waiting was what made it special. I know that sounds weird, but it’s true. I liked it when we would sit in the car and wait. There was something intimate about it. Or, when I was little, I thought it was like a real drive in from the 50’s. Sadly, Angelo’s is not there anymore, but I will always have the memories of how great it was.

There is another place that is similar to Angelo’s, and I drive by this place 4-5 times a week, if not more. It’s called Mom’s Ol’ Fashion Burger, off of Clinton and West.

Closed Mondays, Tuesday-Saturday 10-9, and Sunday 10-8.
Mom’s Ol’ Fashion Burger

I’ve been to Mom’s Ol’ Fashion Burgers twice now. It’s run by a couple, who are not the original owners, according to what I’ve been reading online. However, I asked the gentleman today how long he has been there and he said, “A long time.” Ha! He finally told me that he’s been there for about 10 years. I knew I could get him to talk. 😉 Anyway, what I really like about this place is that the food is fresh. After I placed my order, the gentleman went right to the back to cook. The burger and fries were fresh, and tasty. Even though the burger was simple, it was perfect.

Another thing I really like about this place? The banana splits and snow cones! I mean really, who doesn’t love a good snow cone?! The menu is diverse enough to appeal to everyone in your family. Corn dogs, avocado and jalapeno burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, and bacon burgers-yum!

I may not have the connection and/or memories to Mom’s Ol’ Fashion Burgers, like others may have, but I’m hoping that I can start new memories. Perhaps you can too. 🙂 Take the family over to Mom’s Ol’ Fashion Burgers and tell me how you like it. It may look old and run down, but the inside is clean, the owners are friendly, and the food is good.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
