WaBa Grill: A Fresh, Healthy Option in Northwest Fresno

WaBa Grill has officially opened in Northwest Fresno, bringing its fresh, healthy, fast-casual dining experience to our city. WaBa Grill is an established restaurant chain, founded in Southern California, known for its commitment to quality ingredients and healthy food made fast. They offer a variety of grilled proteins, fresh vegetables, and plant-based options, with the goal of making nutritious meals accessible to busy people at a fair price. The new Fresno location is conveniently situated on the southeast corner of Brawley and Herndon, right near Dutch Bros Coffee.

WaBa Grill’s philosophy is that healthy food made with fresh, grilled ingredients should be accessible to everyone. This is reflected in their menu, which includes protein choices like all-natural (never frozen) chicken, ribeye steak, jumbo shrimp, wild-caught salmon, plant-based steak, and tofu. Whether you’re in the mood for a rice bowl, veggie bowl, or even a take on tacos, there’s something for every taste and dietary preference.

During my visit with coworkers for a recent lunch break, I tried the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Veggie & Rice Bowl, which I upgraded to all white meat chicken. The quality of the chicken was very good—tender and flavorful, not dry. The sweet and spicy sauce was a great balance of flavors, adding just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. I was a little worried it would be too sweet or taste like the bottled sweet chili sauce you find in grocery stores, but it wasn’t like that at all—just lightly sweet with a good kick and some zest of garlic.

For an extra kick, I added a side of Garlic Serrano sauce to my meal, which was really good (I’d get it again). The veggies—broccoli, carrots, and cabbage—were cooked to a tender-crisp perfection, though I would have appreciated a little seasoning to enhance their flavor since they weren’t dressed in sauce like the chicken was.

The service was fast and friendly, perfect for a quick lunch. Our server was attentive, answering our menu questions and bringing the food to our table, making sure we knew which order was which, and which sauces were which since we were new customers. Their casual but well-kept restaurant is set up for both dining in and takeout, with the added convenience of online ordering for those in a hurry.

One of the things that really sets WaBa Grill apart is its focus on health-conscious dining. For about the same price (or less) than a typical fast-food meal, WaBa offers fresh, balanced, and nutrition-friendly meals. Given the restaurant’s location near the large Northwest GB3 gym and Planet Fitness on West Shaw, it’s an excellent option for anyone looking for a balanced, protein-packed meal after a workout. With grilled proteins, fresh veggies, and rice, it’s perfect for those counting macros or trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They also have miso soup, which is something I often crave in the colder months. Getting it at WaBa with a protein of choice added sounds like a great, fast cold-weather option—assuming Fresno ever gets cold this year, haha!

If you’re in the Northwest Fresno area and looking for a fresh, fast-casual dining option that doesn’t compromise on quality or health, WaBa Grill is worth a visit. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or fueling up after a workout, their menu offers fresh options for Fresnans at a fair price with great service.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
