Hollywood has made comics cool again. Nowhere is that more obvious than in the massive growth of Comic-Con, with its huge attendance and plethora of stars.
For those of you who followed all the news and photos coming out of San Diego this past weekend, but didn’t get to be one of the lucky ones who got all dressed up and went, you can get a small fix – or prep for next year’s event – right here in Fresno!
Kwirkworld, located at Riverpark right by the IMAX theater, is the place to go for fun pop culture stuff: mainstream, retro, Japanese, comics. From Wonder Woman, Batman and Star Wars to Hello Kitty, Doctor Who and even My Little Pony, this place has it all. You can buy posters, toys, backpacks, clothes and more.
And if you’re not into the Hollywood stuff, there are tons of other quirky things to browse through (pun intended). Kwirkworld is my go-to place for fun gifts, party gear and even office supplies. I always visit before a bachelorette party or white elephant gift exchange. Great past finds include a giant wine glass, a sushi stapler and a steampunk Sesame Street t-shirt.
The store’s selection changes constantly, so I love stopping in every time I’m at Riverpark to see what’s new. For a while, there was a whole section devoted to bacon. Currently, there’s a big selection of backpacks for back-to-school time.
The best part is, Kwirkworld is totally local. In fact, I even found a Fresno shout out in their extensive sock collection.
