Looking for a new spot to unwind with a happy hour after a long day, enjoy a date night with your favorite person, or plan a girls’ or guys’ night out? You’re in luck! Oak Hill Wine + Bistro has just opened in northeast Fresno, taking over the former Vino & Friends location.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to snag a reservation during their first few days of operation and enjoyed a wonderful date night dinner together. One aspect of Oak Hill that stood out to us was its upscale appearance, making it feel special, yet it was inviting and friendly too.
When you first approach Oak Hill, you’ll notice their spacious and attractive patio dining area to the left of the entrance. Inside, there is a gathering table flanked by wines in the front entry area (a party seemed to be enjoying a wine tasting there when we arrived, having an awesome time). As you continue, you enter the main dining room. To your left, there’s a bar, and ahead, the dining room features flagstone walls, greenery, and warm, soft table lighting.
The menu offers both wine by the glass and bottle, as well as an enticing list of house-made cocktails. While Oak Hill has a strong focus on wine and spirits, there’s an equal emphasis on fine dining with a menu that provides guests with various options. There are shareable small plates and appetizers, main dishes, and desserts to enjoy.
During our visit, we tried the steak bites served with gorgonzola cheese and balsamic reduction, homemade rolls featuring a honey butter spread with caramelized onion, and truffle parm fries which were shoestring, crisp, generously coated with truffle oil, and topped with finely grated cheese.
The service was a perfect blend of friendly and attentive without being overbearing or intrusive, which was great. Although there were a good number of other diners, the tables are nicely spaced, and there’s enough sound absorption in the room to easily enjoy conversation. We are looking forward to returning to Oak Hill soon and would definitely recommend a visit to others!
