5 local accounts you should follow on Instagram

Social media has its ups and downs, but at least we still have Instagram to brighten our days a bit, right?

My IG preferences fall into three main categories: pretty pictures, educational content, humor. Happily, there are tons of local-area accounts that satisfy those requirements.

Here are five I’m obsessed with right now.

1. @helladogmoms

According to some, I post too many photos of my dog on social media. The people who complain about this are, as the children say, haters. I say: the more dog pics, the better, and Hella Dog Moms fits the bill.

2. @thefoundrycollective

You know what? On second thought, do not follow this account. If you do, you’ll be compelled to buy everything at this Clovis store and your bank account may never recover.

3. @oooobyfresno

Did you know that the “Ooooby” in Ooooby Fresno (the CSA that delivers fresh, local produce) stands for “Out Of Our Own Back Yards”? I didn’t! Not until I saw it on Insta. If you need a reminder to eat fruits and veggies, this account is it.

4. @yosemitenps

As everyone here likes to say, Yosemite is basically in our backyard. Normally a source for pretty and/or educational pictures of the park and its wildlife, the account has been useful this summer for Ferguson Fire updates. Here’s hoping it can return to fire-free content again soon.
