What to Eat at Catacomb Party This Weekend

Pork. Belly. Tacos.

Honestly, I could stop there. Taste Kitchen’s Chef Martin Franco kills it with his pork belly tacos, topped with avocado, tomatillo salsa, and pickled onions. Heart-eyed emojis all around.

Also on his menu for Saturday are baja fish tacos (beer-battered pacific fish, cabbage, pico de gallo, chipotle crema) and steak and egg tacos (coffee-chile rubbed flat-iron, local sunny egg, salsa rojo, avocado). Taste Kitchen ran a Kickstarter campaign in 2011. After years of setbacks, including a stint at the former Pinot Wine Bar, they are back on their feet and launching now, this weekend, at Catacomb Party.

In case you missed it, Catacomb is the place to be this Saturday at the Fulton Mall. It’s a FREE-TO-THE-PUBLIC, musical gift to Fresno, with more than 60 bands on eight stages. Hundreds of people are behind this effort, and aside from super cool tunes all day long (12pm-12am), there is also a delicious variety of food, beer and wine available to you, my friends! Be sure to head over to Feast Fest at the Mariposa Plaza on the mall throughout the day.

I mean, look at this season’s Dusty Bun: organic Fresno chili chicken with cider cabbage slaw. Yum.

Other local favorites listed above include El Premio Mayor, a past Taco Truck Throwdown winner, who will be serving tacos, burritos and quesadillas (they’re also new to Instagram). Here’s one of Catacomb Party’s founders, Mathr de León, digging in:

But wait, there’s more!

We can’t forget Catacomb Party’s signature brew by Tioga Sequoia: Catacomb Brew. My guess is that it will sell out pretty quickly, so start at the bar when you arrive (insider’s tip). And, for the first time, Catacomb Party has raided the cellars of Maréchal Vineyards and will feature two previously unreleased Chardonnay and Syrah varietals.

CP Brew Final FINALCatacomb Brew will be available on draft at the Feast Fest lot (Mariposa Plaza) as well as on draft at Peeve’s Public House and Tioga Sequoia’s beer garden. A limited run of bottles will be available only at the Tioga Sequoia Beer Garden, which will open at 4:30 pm, April 4.

CP 2015 Stolen Wine Chard 1Stolen Wine is available by the glass and on the shelf at Peeve’s Public House, starting Friday April 3 (details on the release party here). Additionally, both varietals will be sold by the glass at the Feast Fest lot (Mariposa Plaza) and in The Green Room, Apr 4.

I was particularly excited about the musical talents of Dan Deacon, The Stone Foxes, and one of my local faves, Brother Luke and the Comrades this weekend, but is it okay to admit that I’m equally excited about the food? Yay! Can’t wait.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
