Hello FresYes friends! Guess what? I have a new addiction and yes, you guessed it — since I’m blogging about it, it must be food or drink related! (I’m getting fairly predictable here, aren’t I?)
As the weather’s been warming up, I’ve been craving fresh, bright-tasting, healthy beverages and snacks. I’ve also been trying to make some positive changes for my overall health, which often leads me toward anything heavy on fruits and vegetables.
Recently, my son asked if we could go to a place called Pressed. Despite my best efforts to stay on top of all the local spots, I had never heard of it. He directed me to their location in the Universal Park Shopping Center, on the southwest corner of Blackstone and Nees. When we walked in, I discovered it’s a fresh-pressed juice shop that also sells wellness shots, smoothies, açaí bowls, and “freezes” (more on those in a second).
Right near the entrance was a cooler cart filled with ice and bottles of their juices and wellness shots, along with little sample cups so you can taste before you buy. I really appreciated this because many of the drinks include super-healthy ingredients that sound intriguing (turmeric and beets, anyone?) but don’t always taste the way you hope in liquid form. I discovered that turmeric wasn’t for me, but I loved the citrus, pineapple, and mint vitamin C blend with prebiotics. Another standout was the Elderberry Immune Support shot made with elderberries, cinnamon, and cloves. It’s sweet, juicy, spicy, and so delicious. Plus, elderberry is great for your immune and respiratory systems, which is always a win.
My son is all about the freezes. These are vegan soft-serves available in flavors like chocolate, açaí, vanilla, berry, and tropical. Some, like the açaí and tropical options, also come in high-protein versions. They’re made with ingredients like oat or coconut milk, fruit, almonds, cacao, and plant-based protein. You get to choose three toppings per freeze or go with one of their curated combinations. I love the chocolate freeze with the tropical topping set: strawberries, flaked coconut, and diced mango. My husband was a fan of the Lemon Blueberry Crumble sundae, made with açaí freeze, crumbled lemon cookies, tangy lemon agave syrup, and fresh blueberries.
There’s still a lot I haven’t tried yet. The menu is extensive and cleverly organized. You can shop by function, choosing drinks that support hydration, recovery, gut health, bloat reduction, or energy, to name a few. They also offer multi-day juice and smoothie packs designed to help with specific nutritional or wellness goals.
Ordering online for easy pickup is an option, and they offer a membership with discounts for regulars, which I’m seriously considering. I have a feeling I’ll be stopping into Pressed a lot this summer for something fresh that I can enjoy without feeling weighed down afterward. The shop is sparkling clean, the vibes are good, and the staff has been super friendly and helpful each time we’ve visited.
If you’re looking for a healthy and refreshing new spot to check out, Pressed might just hit the spot. And hey, if you try something you love, please let me know! I’ve got a feeling I’ll be working my way through that menu all season long.
