Looking for a place where cool mountain breezes meet sparkling waters and endless adventure? Huntington Lake might just be your new favorite escape. Just the drive up—winding roads shaded by tall pines 🌲, crisp mountain air filling your lungs 🌬️, and that first breathtaking glimpse of the lake 🌊—feels like hitting a reset button.

Perched high in the Sierra Nevada, this alpine gem is the kind of spot where time slows down, worries fade, and the outdoors takes center stage. Whether you’re here for an action-packed weekend or a quiet retreat, Huntington Lake has a way of turning even a short getaway into a memory you’ll want to relive again and again.

Here are five fun ways to make the most of your time at the lake:

1. Set Sail ⛵

Huntington Lake is famous for sailing, thanks to its steady winds that make it one of the top sailing lakes in the U.S. Don’t be surprised if you spot a regatta out on the water—it’s a sight to see! Even if you don’t sail yourself, watching the colorful boats glide across the lake is pure magic.

2. Cast a Line 🎣

Fishing at Huntington is a must. With rainbow trout, brown trout, and kokanee salmon swimming below the surface, it’s the perfect spot to drop a line. Early mornings on the shore are peaceful, but even casual anglers will love the thrill of reeling in dinner.

3. Take a Dip 🏊‍♀️🚤

On a warm summer day, the lake is the ultimate playground. Go for a swim, launch a kayak, try paddleboarding, or kick it up a notch with some water skiing. However you choose to splash around, the cool alpine water will refresh your soul.

4. Hit the Trails 🥾🐎

Surrounding the lake are trails for every level of explorer. Family-friendly hikes like Rancheria Falls offer gorgeous views without much effort, while the Kaiser Loop Trail gives seasoned hikers a rewarding challenge. Prefer to ride? Guided horseback trips let you soak in the scenery without breaking a sweat.

5. Campfires & Starry Nights ✨🔥

There’s something magical about evenings at Huntington. Whether you’re camping lakeside, picnicking at one of the many scenic spots, or simply watching the sun set, the transition from golden hour to a sky bursting with stars is unforgettable. The Milky Way feels so close, you’ll want to reach out and touch it.

Ready to Make Huntington Your Backyard?

With year-round activities—sailing in the summer, hiking in the fall, fishing in the spring, and skiing at nearby China Peak in the winter—Huntington Lake isn’t just a getaway, it’s a lifestyle.

If the idea of having this alpine playground just outside your door excites you, there’s a stunning condo nearby that might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s the perfect blend of comfort and adventure, where you can enjoy vaulted ceilings, cozy fireplaces, and a cedar sauna after a day outdoors.

Head YES man at FresYes.com
I grew up in Fresno. Relaxed in its calm breezes, listened with my dad to the crack of the bat at little league baseball games when I was a kid and now take my son to do the same at minor league games. I broadened my mind at its schools (I went to high school right here at San Joaquin Memorial, and to college at Fresno State!) I love that if I drive for two hours in one direction, I can be in the mountains. For two hours in another, luxuriating on a California beach. I can enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but still be able to come home to relaxation, calm, and quiet.

I love where I live, and I also love what I do. I'm lucky to be able to work in a profession in which I get to build relationships; one that has me meeting new people each and every day and helping them to build new lives in my beloved city. I'm lucky enough to work in a profession in which I can marry cutting-edge technologies and marketing techniques to good, old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work. I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to work as an advocate for my clients; to use every tool at my disposal to get a job done well for them, and with as little stress and expense as possible.

I love my city. I love my job. One inspires my excellence for the other.

Who is FresYes?

Fresyes.com was started by me, Jason Farris. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think that real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fresno / Clovis area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle that we call home. Fresyes.com is that place. We have fabulous authors who share what makes this community of ours so special. I also write here, and not always about real estate. You can find all my posts HERE
