One of the highest voted taco places on our Taco Poll was Garrafa Tacos. So we reached out and were able to talk with Alejandro with Garrafa Tacos & Ice Cream.
FRESYES: So tell us, who are you, where did you come from, and what do you do?
ALEJANDRO: I’m from Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico and I immigrated to the US about 20 years ago. I am an entrepreneur that 5 years ago quit his job and started following a dream.
FRESYES: Can you tell us about Garrafa Tacos?
ALEJANDRO: Garrafa opened up its doors for our customer on November 11, 2017. This business was created with the inspiration on bringing something traditional and unique to our community. Most of the items in our Menu are typically from the state of Jalisco. I’m very proud of my roots and we wanted to bring a little piece of it to the Valley.
FRESYES: Jalisco is know for it’s mariachi, tequila, and of course it’s birria, what do you do that that makes you stand out?
ALEJANDRO: Garrafa was the first ice cream shop in Fresno with the permit to process and sale the Garrafa Ice Cream (Mexican ice cream 100% natural).
We were also one of the first one (if not the first ones) on selling the barbacoa tacos in Fresno. Our Barbacoa recipe has been in our family for over 30 years. It’s my mom’s recipe!
FRESYES: What is it that most people DON’T know about your business?
ALEJANDRO: We started as an ice cream shop business but the desperation on increase our sales during the cold weather we started selling our barbacoa tacos, without imagining that they were going to give us such popularity. The Garrafa name comes from the type of ice cream we sell but now people know who we are by our Tacos!
Oh, and as for our meat recipe, only my mom and my wife knows it.
FRESYES: That’s great! Have any insider news for our readers?
ALEJANDRO: We just acquired our second food truck that will be around different locations.
We have many plans for new promotions and sponsorships on 2023.
We are also available to cater any events.
Oh and we also renovated our logo due to our popularity in our tacos!
